Broker IPv6 support

Which broker APIs answer on IPv6

SEBI requires broker API access from a static IP you register with your broker. IPv6 addresses cost less than IPv4 ones and do the same job, so QuantGrid issues IPv6 wherever your broker's order endpoint can be reached over it and IPv4 only where it cannot. You are not asked to choose; this page is the evidence behind the choice. Here is what a DNS lookup said on 22 August 2026: 10 of 14 answer on IPv6.

How to read this

These are DNS lookups we ran ourselves on the date shown, not statements from the brokers. A broker can add or remove an AAAA record at any time without telling anyone, so re-check before you buy if it has been a while, or ask us and we will look it up with you.

The hostname column is the point. A broker is not IPv6-ready or not: one specific host has to answer, and it is the one your orders are sent to. Streaming and market-data hosts are listed separately where they differ, because those carry no orders, are not IP-restricted, and can leave from a shared address without breaking anything.

The twelve brokers you can run today

QuantGrid replicates across all twelve in any parent and child combination. The address family you buy has to match what your broker's order endpoint accepts.

Zerodha

Orders reach an IPv6 endpoint. The order-update socket is IPv4 only, which is fine: the socket carries no orders and is not IP-restricted, so it leaves from the shared address.

FYERS

Answers on IPv6 for both orders and streaming.

API v3api-t1.fyers.inYessocket.fyers.inYes
Angel One

IPv4 only, on both hosts. An Angel One account needs an IPv4 address.

SmartAPIapiconnect.angelone.inNosmartapisocket.angelone.inNo
Upstox

Orders reach an IPv6 endpoint, so an Upstox account is issued an IPv6 address. Upstox checks the address every order arrives from, so it has to be added to your Upstox app before anything can be placed.

Dhan

Everything Dhan publishes answers over IPv6, and it is one of two brokers here that state in their own documentation that the static-IP whitelist takes an IPv6 address as well as an IPv4 one (Kotak is the other). Confirmed by connecting rather than by a DNS lookup: api.dhan.co answered DH-901 over a v6 socket on 22 August 2026. Note the whitelist applies to placing, changing and cancelling orders only; reading your order book is exempt.

Kotak

Every Kotak host answers over IPv6, and Kotak states in its own documentation that the static-IP whitelist takes an IPv6 address as well as an IPv4 one. Confirmed by connecting rather than by a DNS lookup: the login endpoint answered over a v6 socket on 23 August 2026. Note Kotak lists elsewhere as api.kotaksecurities.com, which resolves to nothing at all; the Neo gateway host named here is the one that answers. Two things are particular to Kotak: it ties each session to the address that created it, so after you change the registered address QuantGrid has to sign in again before orders are accepted, and the address can only be changed once every seven days.

Groww

Orders reach an IPv6 endpoint. Whether Groww's own whitelist form accepts an IPv6 literal is a property of their console that no lookup reveals, so tell us if it refuses one and we will move you to IPv4.

Motilal Oswal

IPv4 only. A Motilal Oswal account needs an IPv4 address, and Motilal additionally checks the address each order arrives from.

OpenAPIopenapi.motilaloswal.comNoNot listed
Tradejini

IPv4 only, and the plainest case here: api.tradejini.com publishes no IPv6 address at all, so there is nothing for an IPv6 address to connect to. A Tradejini account needs an IPv4 address. Checked on 27 August 2026.

CubePlus API v2api.tradejini.comNoNot listed
IIFL

Orders reach an IPv6 endpoint, so either address family works. Confirmed by connecting rather than by a DNS lookup: api.iiflcapital.com answered over a real IPv6 socket with IIFL's own response on 4 September 2026. Note its market-data host publishes no IPv6 address, which does not matter here because QuantGrid reads IIFL by polling rather than over that feed.

Nuvama Wealth

IPv4 only, and for an unusual reason: Nuvama's order endpoint does answer over IPv6, but their console will not accept an IPv6 address in the registered-IP form, and Nuvama checks the address every request arrives from. An address you cannot register cannot place an order, whichever way it resolves. Confirmed with a live account on 22 August 2026.

ICICI Direct

Orders reach an IPv6 endpoint. The separate feed host is IPv4 only, which does not matter: no order goes to it. ICICI requires the address orders arrive from to be registered with them, so whichever family you choose has to be the one your account trades from.

What this means for you

Choosing between the two families

IPv6

₹590 per 30 days

The cheaper family, and what your account is issued whenever the table above says your broker’s order endpoint answers on it. Per broker account, like every address.

IPv4

₹944 per 30 days

Issued only where the broker cannot take an IPv6 address, which today means Angel One, Motilal Oswal, Tradejini and Nuvama Wealth accounts. Every other account gets IPv6 at the lower price.

Not listed

Ask about your broker

If your broker is not listed, or the row is older than you are comfortable with, email [email protected] and we will run the lookup with you first.

One consequence worth spelling out, because it is what the whole table is for: an address bound to IPv6 cannot reach an IPv4-only destination. Brokers also cap how many IPs you may register per app, so holding both families as a safety net is generally not something your broker will let you do.

QuantGrid decides this for you rather than leaving it to a dropdown. Each broker account is issued the one family its broker’s order API accepts, IPv6 wherever that is possible, and the other family is not offered for that account at all. That is enforced on the server, so there is no way to buy an address your broker cannot use, and no way to pay the IPv4 price for an account that would have worked on IPv6.
