Kotak · Kotak Neo Trade API
Kotak copy trading, built on the Neo Trade API
Link your Kotak accounts, mark one as the parent, and every order it places is mirrored into the others with your own multiplier applied to each. Child accounts can sit at any supported broker.
Integration
How QuantGrid connects to Kotak
QuantGrid connects to the Kotak Neo Trade API and subscribes to the live order and position feed Kotak publishes, which Kotak states reports every order on the account, including ones you place in the Neo app itself. Orders are placed over the Neo REST API. Kotak has no sign-in page for an application to be sent to, so QuantGrid signs in for you each day from your client code, registered mobile number, MPIN and a TOTP code, which is what keeps a parent account connected without anyone at a screen.
QuantGrid subscribes to the live order and position feed Kotak publishes for your parent account, which Kotak states reports every order on the account, including ones you place in the Neo app, and reads the order book every three seconds alongside it.
Child orders go over the Neo REST API. Kotak names an instrument by the same trading symbol Zerodha uses, character for character, which is unusual and useful: a contract read off a Zerodha parent needs no translation at all to reach a Kotak child. QuantGrid still holds Kotak's published instrument list, for live prices and for amending a resting order.
- Kotak publishes a live order and position feed, which QuantGrid subscribes to alongside reading the order book
- Equity and F&O on NSE, BSE, NFO and BFO
- QuantGrid signs in for you each trading day. Kotak publishes no login page to be sent to, so you register a TOTP key once and nothing needs doing after that
- Stop-loss market orders copy to a Kotak account, which not every supported broker accepts
- Kotak requires the address orders arrive from to be registered, and it accepts an IPv4 or an IPv6 address for it
- Cross-broker replication: a Kotak account can be a parent or a child
What to know about Kotak's API
- Kotak publishes no sign-in page for applications. Kotak states that its API signs in from your client code, registered mobile number, a TOTP code and your MPIN, so a Kotak account connects only through automatic sign-in.
- Kotak states that it ties each API session to the address that created it. After you register or change your dedicated address, QuantGrid has to sign in again before Kotak accepts an order.
- Kotak states that the registered address can be changed only once every seven days.
- Kotak states that it turns a market order into a limit order within its own published price bands and shows it in your order book as a limit, and that it declines a market order on an option that has not traded yet.

Commodity trades copy only between Zerodha, Angel One and Dhan accounts, and currency trades only between Zerodha accounts. Both are switched on per account rather than by default.
Large-order splitting and price chasing are switched on broker by broker as each is proven on a live account, so Kotak may not have them on yet. How price chasing works.

Connect Kotak in three steps
Setup is a one-time job and usually takes a few minutes. Nothing is replicated until you explicitly link a parent to a child and save a multiplier.
- 01
Create an application in the Neo API Dashboard
Open Kotak Neo, go to More, then Trade API, and create an application. Copy the access token it shows you into QuantGrid. There is no separate API secret: that one token is the whole key. Fill in your client code too, because Kotak needs it before a sign-in can start.
- 02
Register your dedicated address, then sign in again
QuantGrid assigns your account a dedicated static IP. Add it under Add IP in the same dashboard, exactly as shown. Kotak accepts both families and QuantGrid issues Kotak accounts an IPv6 address, which is the cheaper one. Then press Log in now in QuantGrid, so the session is created from the address you just registered. Check the address before you save: Kotak allows it to be changed only once every seven days.
- 03
Link accounts and set your rules
Mark one account as the parent, add your child accounts, and set a copy factor and max quantity for each one. Replication starts on the next order the parent places.

Authorisation
Sessions, tokens and revoking access on Kotak
Broker sessions are governed by the broker, not by QuantGrid. Here is exactly how that behaves so nothing surprises you at 9:15 in the morning.
QuantGrid signs in for you, because Kotak publishes no login page
Kotak has no page for an application to send you to. Its API signs in from your client code, your registered mobile number and a TOTP code, and then your MPIN. You store those once and nothing needs doing each morning, which is what keeps a parent account connected without anyone at a screen.
You register a TOTP key with Kotak first
In the Neo app or web, open More, then Trade API, then the API Dashboard, and use TOTP Registration. Scan the QR into an authenticator app and copy the setup key into QuantGrid. If registration reports a service error, wait five minutes: Kotak applies a cooldown after a failed attempt.
Kotak ties each session to the address it was created from
This is particular to Kotak and worth knowing. Other brokers check the address each order arrives from, so registering it fixes the next order. Kotak checks it against the address that created the session, so after you register or change your address QuantGrid has to sign in again before anything can be placed, even though your order book, positions and prices all keep working perfectly in the meantime.
One static IP, reserved to your account
Your API traffic leaves from a dedicated static IP address that is never shared with another customer. Where a broker lets you restrict API access to a whitelisted address, you have one stable address to whitelist, and your activity is never mixed with anyone else's. See the security practices.
Pairing
Running Kotak alongside the other live brokers
A Kotak account works as a parent or as a child, in any combination with the other supported brokers. Kotak's API lists every order type this platform models. One thing to plan around is Kotak's: Kotak states that it converts a plain market order into a protective limit close to the last traded price using its own published bands, shows it in your order book as a limit, and declines a market order on an option that has not traded yet.
Kotak as parent
Drive children at any live broker
Orders placed in your Kotak parent account replicate into child accounts at Kotak, Zerodha, Angel One, FYERS, Groww, Motilal Oswal, Upstox, Nuvama Wealth, ICICI Direct, Dhan, Tradejini and IIFL, each with its own copy factor and max-quantity cap.
Kotak as child
Follow a parent at another broker
A Kotak account can equally be the follower. A parent at Zerodha or Angel One or FYERS or Groww or Motilal Oswal or Upstox or Nuvama Wealth or ICICI Direct or Dhan or Tradejini or IIFL drives it, with symbol and product-type translation applied automatically on every order.
See the full parent and child matrix for every supported combination.
Pricing
What Kotak replication costs
One price per broker account you connect: its dedicated static IP, with every feature included. Kotak's API accepts IPv6, so that is what its accounts are issued, at the lower of the two prices. There is no platform fee, no per-child software surcharge and no share of anything you trade.
Dedicated static IPv6
Every feature included₹500per 30 days + 18% GST
per broker account
What your account is issued wherever the broker accepts IPv6.
Dedicated static IPv4
Every feature included₹600per 30 days + 18% GST
per broker account
What your account is issued where the broker cannot take IPv6.
